30 years ago America was introduced to AIDS ( Acquired immune deficiency syndrome) is the final stage of HIV disease, which causes severe damage to the immune system. The World Health organization estimates that more than 25 million people worldwide have died from this infection since the start of the epidemic.
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) causes AIDS. The virus attacks the immune system and leaves the body vulnerable to a variety of life threatening infections and cancers.
AIDS is the sixth leading cause of death among people ages 25-44 in the United States. Three years ago in 2008, there was approximately 33.4 million people around the world living with HIV/AIDS, including 2.1 million children under the age of 15.
How is the virus transmitted? The virus is spread (transmitted) through sexual contact-including oral, vaginal, and anal sex. Through blood via blood transfusions and needle sharing, from mother to child a pregnant woman can transmit the virus to her fetus through their shared blood circulation, or a nursing mother can transmit it to her baby in her breast milk.
People At High Risk........ Injection drug users who share needles, infants born to mothers with HIV who didn't receive HIV therapy during pregnancy, people engaging in unprotected sex, especially with people who have other high-risk behaviors, are HIV-positive, or have AIDS, sexual partners of those who participate in high-risk activities (such as injection drug use or anal sex), people who received blood transfusions between 1977 and 1985.
Gay and bisexual men continue to bear the greatest burden of HIV infection, accounting for an estimated 53% of new HIV infections, and is the only group for which new infections are on the rise. Although African-Americans and Latinos are right behind them in this group these ethnic groups have higher cases than Whites.
What are the symptoms? Weight loss, lack of energy, frequent sweat and fevers, persistent or yeast infections, persistent skin rashes or flaky skin, short-term memory loss, mouth, genital, or anal sores from herpes infections.
Usher, Alica Keys, President Obama, and many other celebrities are involved with the fight for HIV&AIDS.
Toni's Thoughts..... HIV& AIDS is not a gay man's disease and I personally don't believe it originated in Africa. I also believe there is a cure for HIV&AIDS but money is made from people's misery. Please be safe y'all. Become celibate or get tested educated yourself and your community. The fight must continue everyday not just on World AIDS Day that is why I didn't make a blog post two days ago. I have lost family members to HIV&AIDS hopefully we can save another person's life. More and more people are living with the disease but how about more people avoid it all together by making the effort to practice safer health behaviours.

Leave Kim K Alone
Kim Kardashian what do you think about her? Wait there is no need to respond because lately Kim has been under much scrutiny for divorcing her husband Kris Humphries. Personally I really do not understand why everyone is so pissed off just because you watch her on television on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and the spin-offs it doesn't mean you know every aspect of her life the cameras get turned off at some point.
I admit before I started watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians I didn't like Kim because of the sex tape scandal but once I got all the facts and started watching the show I realized the Kardashian clan is alright in my book. The first time I saw Kim she was hanging out with Paris Hilton clearly Paris can't all that smart because you are hanging out with a girl that is way prettier than she will ever be.
Facts and Things You Possibly Didn't Know: Before Kim was a reality television personality she worked for her late father's music company firm and eventually became a personal stylists. She met Ray J through his sister Brandy because she was Brandy's stylists. As we all know she appeared in the sex tape with her then boyfriend Ray J the tape was leaked and Kim sued the company that leaked the tape but she was awarded a settlement for $5 million dollars. By 2007 we saw Kim her family premiere their reality show. Kim got married at the age of 19 but really couldn't enjoy that relationship this time around she got the wedding of her dreams but didn't get the guy of her dreams.
People Say She is Desperate......... I have often heard some of my peers and friends say that desperate. The last time I checked a desperate person is someone who can't attract anyone. Kim has been linked to athletes, models, and entertainers. The only man I saw her break down and cry over was Reggie Bush a real NFL star we know who he is and what he has accomplished. Kim is 31 years old so it is natural for her to want to be married and have kids. WTF is wrong with people you have to grow up at some point. Sure her sisters have their own families but Kim is at that age where a woman in her right mind wants to settle down. So I disagree.
Kris Humphires Situation... From what I saw on the television show I did not like him but Kim was truly in love and saw the good in him. I felt as though their age difference made an impact on their relationship. Not to mention the family backgrounds Kim grew up with money and Kris didn't. Let me just say opposites don't always attract at times they clash.
I actually like Kim Kardashian I mean never read or her about her dissing anybody, getting into fights, going in and out of rehab, sure she makes mistakes but she is human. People are crazy. What has she done to you? Out of all the reality television stars on TV people gang up on her? Yes I think her ass is real take a look at her mom where do you think she gets it from. I will be going to see the Tyler Perry film she is in. My words to Kim, girl be yourself and live your life because people are fake as hell. F****k B***ches get money.

Ball so hard muthaf****kas wanna find me
That s**t Kray
Lyrics recited from the popular Jay-Z and Kanye West song N****gas in Paris
Personally I do not use the infamous N-Word and yes I understand why Nas decided to make than album titled almost four years ago. But I cringe when I hear my African-American peers say a term that was and is still used to insult African-Americans. I admit that I am no saint because I use profane language myself. But as I was listening to the song by Hov and Kanye I wanted to do some research on what they were talking about and I found out an interesting fact.
The origin of the term "Cray" from the song is actually not a shortened form of "crazy," nor is it "cray," it's actually means "Kray" this is a reference to the schizophrenic twins Ronald and Reginald Kray. The Kray twins who were crime lords of London in the 1950's and 1960's. The police failed to locate them on numerous occasions, which is where the line " Ball so hard, muthaf****kas wanna find me, that shit Kray comes from.

Sister, Sister
Sister, Sister
Heavy D
1991
[Intro]
Brother, brother (Sister sister, the way I-)
You're gonna need her (Sister sister, the way I-)
Brother, brother (Sister sister, the way I-)
You're gonna need her (Sister sister..)
[Heavy D]
This one goes out to.. (Sister sister)
All the black women in our society
who has gone through so much pain and struggle (The way I-)
Gonna let you know that..(Sister sister)
I'm thinking about you (The way I-)
and from the bottom of my heart, I love you
(Sister sister, the way I-)
Sister sister, my Nubian princess
This one's for you, 'cause I'm tired of the nonsense
Not speaking of a sister from immeadiate family
but to all the sisters with a black mentality
I've grown up watchin you struggle
While others work singles, you work doubles
If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be born
Who would sew our clothes when they were torn?
I remember trips you couldn't take
So you can buy clothes for your kids to look straight
A few ways to make a dim day bright
Use it for a crutch 'fore you limp through right
Never met a person with a pride so true
Without a strong sis, then what can a black man do?
Many are called but the chosen are few
Sister sister, I feel good about you
[Chorus]
The way I feel about you
(Sister sister, the way I-)
The way I feel about you
(Sister sister..)
The way I feel about you
(Sister sister, the way I-)
The way I feel aboooooout yooooou
[Heavy D]
I could recall those sleepless nights
Three in the morning, is my baby alright?
Can't wait to greet 'em with your sensitive touch
'Cause you know he's on the street, that society left us (Sensitive touch)
I remember when you bandaged my boo
So your sonny was a winner and hopes that he wouldn't lose
Look at your frame, your structure, pride won't puncture
Can't get enough of the way you love your family
You'd be damned if we, ever borrowed sugar for a hot cup of tea
How many tears must you cry? (Dry up)
How many prayers must be said for your kids to get by?
How many time must you fix the break and
mend the torn and befriend the lonesome?
They say being black is crazy
It's hard to be black, but it's hell to be a black lady
[Chorus]
[Interlude]
Break it down~! Sister sister
(Sister sister, the way I-)
Sister sister (...the way I-)
I love you
Sister sister
(Sister sister, the way I-)
Sister sister
(Sister sister, the way I-)
Get funky, Marley
Oh yeah...do me a favor..
[Chorus 2]
The way I feel about you
(Sister sister, sister sister)
The way I feel about you
(Sister sister, sister sister)
The way I feel about you
(Sister sister, sister sister)
The way I feel aboooooout yooooou
(Sister sister, sister sister, the way I-)
[Heavy D]
To all the mothers who's lost and mourned
To all the girls whose hearts been torn
To all the sisters who cried for a brother
I have a love for you I couldn't have for another
I'm proud to see you in your executive chair
I'm proud to know you giving us medical care
Oh what weak men we would be
without the strong black women in our society
Scrub, you cook, you clean, you know you're goin to
Not because you have to, but because you want to
Not unless you carry, but to give
You love, you cry, you laugh, you weep
You hug, it's you that I envy
'Cause when it comes to givin love, you give it good and plenty
Sister sister, respect is due
and from the bottom of my heart {*kiss*}, I feel good about you
[Chorus]
[Outro: Heavy D]
We all need to give more thought, to our sisters out there
Our future sisters, but is soon turning to parents
And give love that we've gotten
And the babies out there, the little GIRL babies
who grow up to be future sisters
And all you brothers out there
Take time to think that it's a sister you came from
And the same sister that you dissin today...
...may be the same sister you need tomorrow
Peace!
Brother, brother (Sister sister, the way I-)
You're gonna need her (Sister sister, the way I-)

The OverWeight Lover's In the House
Dwight Arrington Myers aka Heavy D was born May 24, 1967 in Mandeville, Jamaica and raised in Mount Vernon, New York. He passed away on November 8, 2011.
Heavy D was the self-proclaimed "Overweight Lover" was a very talented rapper, record producer, singer, actor, and former leader Heavy D and the Boyz, a hip-hop group which included Glen Parrish (G-Whiz), Troy Dixon (T.Roy/Trouble), and Edward Ferrell ( Eddie F). Heavy D and the Boyz were the first act signed to Uptown Records by Andre Herrell cousin and mentor of Sean "Diddy" Combs.
Heavy D lost weight in later years of his life and leaves behind a wife and daughter. He was last seen at the BET Hip-Hop Awards and the film Tower Heist four days before his death.
Heavy D hit singles include "The OverWeight Lover's In the House," " Mr. Big Stuff," "Girlz They Love Me" " Somebody For Me," and "Sister, Sister" a personal favorite of mine because its refreshing to hear a Black Man express his love and respect for a Black Woman. Even though Heavy D made his debut in 1987 my mother played his music and I became a fan.
Rest in my peace my brother you will be missed.

Read A Book
In my previous post I discussed the NBA Lockout and there is a book I plan on reading although I always feel like passing on some sort of wisdom to another individual. This book is called $40 Million Dollar Slaves:The Rise, Fall, and Redemption of the Black Athlete. Written by William C. Rhoden
According a New York Times sports columnist for decades, Rhoden chronicles a sweaty history that has meant wealth but not always progress, and prosperity for the black athlete—the $40 million slave—who is far from free.
Sports stardom has brought black athletes wealth without progress and prosperity without freedom.
Interesting History and Facts from the Book: Arthur "Rube" Foster who created baseball's Negro League in 1920, which still stands as the only sports operation owned, managed and played by blacks.
More Facts.... Did You Know? Jackie Robinson actually integrated baseball in Canada, signing with Montreal in 1945, (the Dodgers bought his contract in 1947). The alley-oop was actually a football invention and horse racing and cycling were once dominated by African Americans.
Those Million Dollar Slaves
Muhammad Ali, Bill Russell, Jackie Robinson, Micheal Jordan, have accomplished so much in the world of sports and broke barriers for many athletes generations after them. Even though they gained wealth and fame they were still slaves. I'm sure you are thinking what am I talking about. Let me make this simple and plain. They were "million dollar slaves" think about it like this when there is an NFL or NBA draft you see many young, tall, and brute African-American men being selected by coaches and team owners who are "White" and they sign a contract and gain endorsement deals. Hmmm we have seen this scene somewhere earlier in American history; the slave auctions. African-Americans were auctioned off and examined by their height, teeth, appearance, etc. just like animals for hard manual labor and breeding purposes.
As a former athlete I respect professional athletes and what they do I understand some people do it for the love of the game and while others do it for the money and I do not feel as though anything is wrong with that.
NBA Lockout 2011: The current lockout is the fourth lockout within the history of NBA ( National Basketball Association) it began on July 1, 2011. During this time teams cannot trade, sign or contract players, and players cannot access NBA team facilities, trainers, or staffs. All pre-season games and the first two weeks of the 2011-2012 season have already been cancelled. Some players have signed contracts overseas while other players have the option to return to the NBA when the lockout ends. The lockout will remain in effect until the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) reaches a deal with the NBA owners.
What Caused It? Apparently negotiations on a new CBA began in early 2011. The league claimed that it was losing $300 million a year (22 out of 30 teams were losing money last season) and proposed to reduce 40% of players' salary (about $800 million) and this would create a hard salary cap ( $45 million per team) as opposed to a soft cap ( at $58 million) currently in use. The union disputed those figures and opposed those changes. Players union director Billy Hunter said that he was advising players to prepare for a lockout. Therefore by May 2011, the NBPA filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), accusing the league of negotiating in bad faith. Although the NBA rejected this complaint saying that the league complies fully with federal labor laws.
Impact? The cancellation of the first two weeks of the season cost players around $175 million in lost pay. As of October 25th, an estimated 400 NBA alteration since the the lockout around in 200 the league office and another 200 among 30 teams.
Toni's Thoughts: As I said once before these men are million dollar slaves and I support them 100 % I hope they get what they are asking for. I played basketball, ran track, and Cross Country and at the end of the day the school and the coaches benefited from my aches, pains, and sweat. The same thing applies to colleges in the country there is money to made from the Athletic Department the athletes should always remain students first but the school, coaches, and program benefits the hard work of its athletes. You have to perform sick or well if you have never played sports or do not watch sports then I feel as though you can not look down on athletes.
They have a job and they receive a paycheck sure the professionals make millions but so many sacrifices must be made to please coaches and team owners. The team owners are billionaires which means they are "wealthy" while the athletes are " millionaires" trust me there is a difference. No, the athletes are not saving lives although they are putting theirs on the line baseball, basketball, football, and soccer players suffer serious injuries everyday. Last year people in Cleveland were pissed that Lebron James wanted to play for the Miami Heat he is a stellar basketball player but would have no chance of winning a championship ring if he would have stayed in Cleveland those cheap bastards wanted him to run, jump, and skip to their beat.
