Could It Be?....... Lady T is Back
That girl is poison she's an American model, media personality, actress, occasional singer, and buisnesswoman. Her name is Tyra Banks the creator fo American's Next Top Model television franchise and a former talk show host. I admit I was really sad when she announced that her talk show was leaving the airwaves because she actually had a great show and I enjoyed watching it. In 2005 she strutted for the last time on the Victoria Secret Fashion Show but now she has re-signed with her modeling agency IMG Models.
Tyra began modeling in the 11th grade and went to Paris, France to begin her career.Within Banks' first week in Paris, designers were so entranced by her presence on the runway that she was booked for an unprecedented twenty-five shows – a record in the business for a newcomer. She has done extensive print and/or runway work for fashion/advertising giants, such as Anna Sui, Coors Light, CoverGirl, Badgley Mischka, Bill Blass, Cynthia Rowley, Chanel, Christian Dior, Victoria's Secret, and Yves Saint Laurent. She has appeared on the covers of high-fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, and Elle.
Banks was the first African American woman on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. In 1997, she received the VH1 award for Supermodel of the Year. That same year, she became the first-ever African American chosen for the cover of the Victoria's Secret catalog.
Tyra Banks has starred in many appearances in movies and television and had given commanding performances. She has starred in Higher Learning, Love and Basketball, Life Size, and had a role on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Tyra Banks is an inspiration to me and many others because she is the comeplete package beauty and brains. Ladies take note.
Welcome Back Tyra I hope to see you on the runway and back in the Fashion Magazines. There really aren't too many Black models on the runway right now and if there are these girls half black or light skinned. I don't have anything against those type of women but you get my drift not to mention Tyra has curves a real woman's body. Oh yeah and her boobs are real for the all the non-believers. She blazes her own trail and keeps it real at the same time.
That Was Some Bulls#%t!
This week BET's show The Game once again received mixed reviews and pissed fans off including myself. On January 11, 2011 the Season 4 Premiere episode 7.7 million viewers tuned in to see what was going off with the Sabers and the women in their lives. This week 5.2 million viewers tuned in hmm I already know what the damn problem is. I think fans are being hoodwinked I'm trying to stay loyal but the writers have pissed me off.
Tasha Mack In Old Times |
Wedlock baby aka DJ aka Derwin Jr. |
Like I said once before I could care less about Kelly and Jason at this point unless they get back together and resolve their issues. Derwin and Melanie are on their way to an epic fail I have rooted for them for so long. But now that feeling is gone I think Melanie needs to complete her residency. Last week took a DNA test on Derwin's son and found out that he wasn't Derwin's son only to find out later that there was a mistake with the lab results. Just as she confesses the truth to Derwin she interrupted by Janay and Derwin punches a whole in the wall. Janay drops by to inform Derwin and Melanie that she is taking full custody of DJ aka Derwin Jr. and wants more money in child support.
Keep This In Mind (Don't Be Stupid People!) Melanie was not wrong for wanting to know the truth about the paternity of that kid he is cute as a button but it's not Derwin's. Let me tell you why this could be a theory but hey it makes perfect sense. In Season 3 Melanie had a sexual relationship with her co worker Dr. Mc Hottie Janay goes to that hospital, for checkups and she also had DJ at the same hospital where Melanie worked. How did Derwin find out about that guy? Through Janay so when Derwin asked Janay about DJ being his real son she hesitated to answer. Why would she be so surprised? Janay is teaming up with that doctor to take Derwin and Melanie down. Since Melanie is on her case now and its all out in the open that guy Mc Hottie could have taken a test and switched some things around at the lab. Notice how Janay tried to get proof after questions were being aksed as she accused Derwin of denying his alleged son. That baby is light skinned with soft hair Derwin and Janay got nappy hair for days. Derwin is a safe bet that is why she chose him and remember all she does is date professional athletes. Why does she need his money? She supposedly has money because her father is rich.
Team Melanie aka Med School
Melanie is using her women's intuition and should never have to apologize for it. Its something a woman can't ignore especially a married woman. Derwin is being dumb like Malik said. Janay wants to take what Melanie has. Me and my friend disagree about this but its cool. Tasha tried to tell Melanie she was wrong for testing the little boy and she should be content with the current situation. Tasha is an older version of Janay she is what I like to call a BBM "Bitter Baby Mama" just like Janay she has a child out of wedlock and the man that knocked her up married another woman. Truth be told if I were Melanie I would ignore Tasha. Derwin tells Melanie she has to go to church and stay of out of the way with Janay and DJ because it is his business. Bullshit as soon as he said that I would pack my grip and bounce. Melanie is his wife they are apart of her life too. Honestly I don't care about the kid in this situation because its not his and the boy's mama is a scandalous trick.
The fourth season has already been tapped but I hope things get better because if fans voices are not heard the show will be cancelled once more. Please lets get back to laughter and less drama its needed sometimes but not all the time. I am pissed a Black Network allowed a white character say the racists remarks that were said about Black women.

Congratulations on celebrating 98 years. The mages you see are members of the organization.
On January 13, 1913 at Howard University 22 undergraduate students founded the sorority known Delta Sigma Theta. These 22 young women were previously iniated into Alpha Kappa Alpha but there was a huge disagreement that brought about change keep in mind the word "Delta" means change.Seven officers were elected: Myra Davis Hemmings, president; Ethel Cuff Black, vice-president, Edith Mott Young, secretary; Jessie McGuire Dent, corresponding secretary, Winona Cargile Alexander, custodian; Frederica Chase Dodd, sergeant-at-arms, and Pauline Oberdorfer Minor was the treasurer. The twenty-two were dismayed at progress and wanted to reorganize the sorority.
More History......If You Don't Know Now You Know
The new initiates wanted to establish a national organization, enlarge the scope of the sorority's activities, change its name to reflect a true purpose, as they felt Alpha Kappa Alpha was solely a female derivative of Alpha Phi Alpha with no true meaning, change the symbols, change the sorority colors to those with purpose, and be more politically oriented.
So Who Are The Founders? Jones, Jimmie Bugg Middleton, Pauline Oberdorfer Minor, Vashti Turley Murphy, Naomi Sewell Richardson, Mamie Reddy Rose, Eliza Pearl Shippen,
Florence Letcher Toms, Ethel Carr Watson, Wertie Blackwell Weaver, Madree Penn White, and Edith Motte Young.
The women of Delta Sigma Theta partcipated in the Womens Suffrage March back in 1913. The organization has many expansion programs such as the follwoing May Week, National Library Project, Job Analysis and Opportunity Project.
At my school Western Kentucky University the Eta Zeta Delta Sigma Theta Chapter was chartered March 14, 1970 at Western Kentucky University by 14 phenomenal women. These charter members, also known as the WANDS (WE ALL NEED DELTA), had been functioning together since March 1969 to get a chapter started at Western.
These willing young women began their journey by approaching the Dean of Student Life with the idea of starting a chapter on campus, but the Dean told these ladies there was one sorority already on campus and there was no need for another one. These ladies, determined with their minds made up for Delta, fought for what they believed in and in 1970, the chapter to be known as Eta Zeta was finally established. They are also the 2 time Step Show Champions in 2008 and 2009 and lost the title in 2010 to Alpha Kappa Alpha. Some say it was because of the anniversay curse the chapter has celebrated 40 years of exsistance on WKU's campus.

WKU Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha |
Last year as a freshmen I participated in a annual scholarship pageant that belongs to the women of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. at Western Kentucky University. The pageant is known as the Miss Black Western pageant that began in the 1970's the purpose was to shed positive light on young black women on Western's campus and give them a chance to showcase their talents, share their life stories, career dreams and goals. I received the Miss Scholastic Award for having an excellent GPA. It was a great experience I made new friends and came out of my bashful shell.

The Champ Is Here!
Last night die hard fans were at ease because BET answered their emails and prayers by allowing the cancelled television sitcom The Game to brought back on the air. The show was cancelled two years ago by the CW network. In my personal opinion and observation that network lacks diversity there pretty much all the shows on that channel are white. The show opened up season four with a bang there was more drama and less comedy but I 'm sure that is going to change.
Derwin and Melanie are finally married while raising his son DJ aka Derwin Jr. and Melanie was still skeptical if the boy is truly Derwin's son. Funny how time flys because when the show began Derwin was the rookie that just wanted a chance to be on field and get some dirt on his jersey. Then he fell on hard times when and Melanie broke up got back together, broke up once more, only to unite once again. He suffered an leg energy and financial problems but he redeemed himself with the help of Tasha Mack his manager and she rebuilt his career.
As for Kelly and Jason both of them are still bitter about their split up. Jason chose Camille portrayed the always lovely Stacey Dash. When Kelly discovered that Tasha introduced the two of them she was furious and that ended their friendship. Kelly is now living high on the hog aka Jason and filming a reality show about her life as a single mom and ex wife of a baller. Jason's 12 year football career has ended now he is sure he will be inducted into the Football Hall of Fame.
As for Malik, Tasha, and Tee Tee things have truly changed. Malik's football career might be taking a turn for the worse yet he still is still cocky as ever. So cocky he is banging his boss's wife. Malik took his resentment out on Tee Tee and slept with his girlfriend. Tee Tee is no longer Malik's assistant and their relationship is tainted while Tasha Mack is dating a younger man portrayed by Terrence J of BET's 106 and Park and I must say I don't like him in real life or his character on the show. I feel as though they should have found someone much more attractive than him.
My Thoughts: I am optimistic about this season even though I have some mixed reviews about last night's episode. I admit I don't like how everyone has turned on one another but I happy to see Derwin enjoy some success. I'm sure they will get back to comedy that made us all fall in love with the show. Overall that was still a great episode because fans are yearning to see what happens next. Will Kelly and Tasha fight again? Will Melanie tell Derwin the truth? What is Jason's next move? Who knows just stay tuned in and watch The Game on BET every Tuesday. People have made several complaints about the show and the set lets keep in mind they had to make budget cuts to get the show back. Ladies and gentlemen you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Nicki Minaji Covers Vibe Magazine
You see right through me how do you do that shit? What woman would ask a question such as that one well her name is Young Money rap star Nicki Minaji like her label mate Drake she has taken the world by storm. She made a million dollars off a mix tape and after countless appearances on remixes and various tracks. Nicki dropped her highly anticipated debut album Pink Friday last November. I admit that I have a love/ hate fascination with her but in the meantime take a look at these images from her recent photo shoot with VIBE Magazine.

96 Years of Phi Beta Sigma
Disclaimer: I am not a member of any organizations within the Divine 9 known as The National Pan-Hellenic Council. I have family and friends that are members and they have shared their experiences with me. This post dedicated to the men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. The images you see are prominent brothers of the fraternity.
The Founders |
Three men came together and founded a fraternity at the prestigious historically black college Howard University these men are the following founders of the organization known as Phi Beta Sigma A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse, and Charles I.Brown. Their goal was to start a fraternity that would exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service. The fraternity is the only one of its kind to aid in the creation and hold a constitutional bond with a predominantly African-American sorority, Zeta Phi Beta (ΖΦΒ). The sorority was incorporated on January 16, 1920 in Washington, D.C.
The fraternity has made many contributions over the years.Since the fraternity's establishment over ninety six years ago, Phi Beta Sigma has helped to improve the general welfare of African Americans, and provided leadership and service during the Great Depression, World Wars I & II, the Civil Rights Movements, and created service initiatives relating to Business, Economic Empowerment, Education, Political Awareness, and Health.
Facts About the Organization: Phi Beta Sigma responded to a "call to arms" in 1917 as the United States entered the First World War. The chapters of Sigma were so depleted that only the Alpha Chapter showed any signs of activity and the National Office ceased to function. The General Board was forced to re-organize as a result of death and other dislocations brought on by the war.. President I. L. Scruggs would ask founder A. L. Taylor to contact the Brothers as soon as they re-appeared in civilian clothes . Taylor called on the National Board to fill the vacancies created by the "Call to Arms and on May 4, 1919, Taylor wrote letters to the Beta and Delta Chapters (established at Kansas State College) in an attempt to track down the membership.
The Harlem Renaissance was an incredible period in history as African-Americans showcased their talents and gained notoriety. It was great because a flowering of African-American cultural and intellectual life which began to be absorbed into mainstream American culture.
His philosophy served as a strong motivating force in keeping the energy and passion of the Movement at the forefront. In addition to Locke, sigma brothers James Weldon Johnson and A. Phillip Randolph were participants in this creative emergence led primarily by the African-American community based in the neighborhood of Harlem in New York City. On January 31, 1920, Phi Beta Sigma was incorporated in the district of Washington, D.C. And became known as Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.
Sigma and the Civil Rights Movement
Phi Beta Sigma brother Huey P. Newton helped establish the revolutionary left-wing Black Panther Party. Originally the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, their goal was the protection of African-American neighborhoods from police brutality in the interest of African-American justice. As one of the many advocates of The Black Power Movement, the Black Panthers were considered part of one of the most significant social, political, and cultural movements in U.S. history. Huey P Newton is one of my heroes so that is an outstanding accomplishment for the organization.
Purpose of the Fraternity The founders deeply wished to create an organization that viewed itself as "a part of" the general community rather than "apart from" the general community. They believed that each potential member should be judged by his own merits rather than his family background or affluence... without regard of race, nationality, skin tone or texture of hair. They wished and wanted their fraternity to exist as part of even a greater brotherhood which would be devoted to the "inclusive we" rather than the "exclusive we".
From its inception, the Founders also conceived Phi Beta Sigma as a mechanism to deliver services to the general community. Rather than gaining skills to be utilized exclusively for themselves and their immediate families, the founders of Phi Beta Sigma held a deep conviction that they should return their newly acquired skills to the communities from which they had come. This deep conviction was mirrored in the Fraternity's motto, "Culture For Service and Service For Humanity". Keep up the good work.
