Lyrics from 1984 smash hit song "When Doves Cry" sung by the legendary Prince. One of my favorite artists he is so amazing "Purple Rain," "Little Red Covet," "Black Sweat," " Kiss," "1999", I could go on. Prince came onto the music scene back in 1979 with the song "I Wanna Be Your Lover". Lets just say he hasn't looked back since. By the 1980's he and Micheal Jackson ruled the decade and were often compared to another but sources say they were friends.
Born as Prince Rogers Nelson on June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He and sister has a passion for music he was also a stellar basketball player in high school. Prince played the piano and guitar in a band with another future singer Morris Day his band was called "The Time." Prince said that his musical influences are the following Sly&The Family Stone, James Brown, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Miles Davis, Parliament-Funkadelic, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, and Todd Rundgren.
Something You Didn't Know? Prince is Jehovah Witness and he is vegetarian. Also Prince has a way with the ladies he has been linked to Carmen Electra, Kim Basinger, Madonna, Vanity, Shelia E, Susanna Hoffs, just to name a few he has been married twice and had a son but the baby died a week after birth. Recently he is dating Bria Valente.
Prince starred in the cult classic film Purple Rain and has won numerous awards Oscars, Grammy Awards, Golden Globe, an induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at last year's BET Awards.
Prince is another artist that inspired many contemporary and neo soul artists in fact "Yo Side of the Bed" by Trey Songz is heavily sampled from "Purple Rain." I have much love and respect for Prince he has always stayed true to himself and he is a true talent I am glad that I have had the chance to listen to his music all my life.
