Happy Hispanic Heritage Month


This month is not only the month we celebrate "All Hollows Eve" aka Halloween and watch scary movies this month is National Hispanic Heritage Month. I have taken Spanish since I was in the first grade and I must say it is an interesting culture.

What does the term Hispanic mean?  The term has been used to refer to people of the and culture of Spanish and Portuguese colonization of the Americas countries formerly ruled by the Spanish and Portuguese Empire, usually with a majority Hispanophone population. Also known as Hispanic America. The regions include the following region includes Mexico, the majority of the Central and South American countries, and the Spanish-speaking island-nations of the Caribbean.

Although here in United States the term "Hispanic" is used by people who are of Hispanic American origin commonly referred to as Hispanic or Latino Americans.

Language and ethnicities in Spanish-speaking areas around the world: Spain,  Puerto Rico, Mexico, United States of America, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, just to name a few.

Areas with Hispanic cultural influence: Africa, Asia, Micronesia

Other interesting facts: Hispanic literature and folklore is very rich and is influenced by a variety of countries. Folk and popular dance and music also varies greatly among Hispanics. Most of the Hispanic population are Christians specifically Roman Catholicism.
